Inter-tidal Zonation Study
Why do Limpets hang out on the upper tidal zone while Sea Stars prefer the wetter zones? What is the effect of temperature and exposure, tide, aspect, habitat, swell on life on the rocky shore?
Beginning with a short rockpool ramble to identify a range of intertidal species, we guide you to use transect lines, quadrats and keys to determine the distribution of life across the rock platform.
This is an exploration of the primary biological, physical and chemical factors that affect life on the coastal fringe. Discover how species adapt, keystone species and even how scientists use biomimicry.
